  3. With the Kinks moving from RCA to Arista, they decided to go back to more straightforward rock sounds and jettison the ambitious concept albums. The result was their best album since Muswell Hillbillies. Featuring the hit "Sleepwalker" and the should-have-been-a-hit "Full Moon", perhaps Ray's best song about his manic depression.5/5(8).
  4. Sleepwalker is the sixteenth studio album by the English rock group, the Kinks, released in It marked a return to straight-ahead, self-contained rock songs after several years of concept albums.
  5. Jan 05,  · “Life on the Road” - For me, it’s the greatest lead-off track of any record since It’s my favorite Kinks album (and, sorry, but it’s the best). “Life Goes On,” “Sleepwalker,” and “Brother” are all golden numbers, too. But “Life on the Road” is as good as it gets. The music is so full of LIFE.
  6. Apr 24,  · I think of it as The Kinks equivalent of Some Girls. The album's real strong point, though, is the songs. IMO, some of the songs on this album can compete with the golden era of the late 60's. The highlights for me are "Life On the Road," "Sleepwalker," "Jukebox Music," and "Life Goes On," but all the songs are good in their own right.
  7. The Kinks followed Think Visual in with another live album, The Road, which was a mediocre commercial and critical performer. In , the Kinks released UK Jive, a commercial failure, making only a momentary entry into the album charts at number [6].
  8. Sleepwalker, an Album by The Kinks. Released 12 February on Arista (catalog no. AL ; Vinyl LP). Genres: Pop Rock.
  9. Comprised entirely of glossy arena rockers and power ballads, the album is more of a stylistic exercise than a collection of first-rate songs. Ray Davies contributed a handful of fairly strong songs, highlighted by the exceptional "Juke Box Music," which sees him in a shockingly resigned frame of mind, claiming that rock & roll is just rock & roll, and nothing more.
